Benali's Big Run takes to the road for a dry run

By Hannah Powell | August 1st, 2014 | Categories: News, The Team, The Route

Thursday 31st July saw Franny and the team complete the last 36mile leg of the challenge as a 'dry run'

We completed a relaxed dry run, to allow everyone to get the feel for what a day on the challenge will be like and how things will work from a support point of view, but also more importantly to allow Franny to run with Lee (supporter runner and photographer) see how the pace is feeling and to iron out any little problems that may have arisen.

The dry run was a great success on all fronts, a true testament to everyone's commitment.Benlis_big_run_trial_run_27.JPG

Franny comfortably completed the 36miles, Lee managing a staggering 31 miles with him (his longest distance ever, and the first distance run since the marathon in April)

We completed the day with 2 vehicles and couldn't of completed it without the team.

Lead car - Dean Cartledge (4com) and Luke Benali. They did an amazing job of keeping everyone on route and we couldn't of done it without this pair.

Rear car - Karen Benali, Kenzie Benali and Karen Collier. The Support and main supply vehicle, but so much more than that too.

Franny looked so comfortable all day. We set off from Bentley (Hampshire) a bit later than planned at 8.45am and finished at Southampton FC at 4pm. A steady pace was held all day and even after 36 miles, Franny looked fresh and even managed a very emotional interview with his daughter Kenzie on behalf of Saints TV.

It was an emotional day to see the weeks of hard work really coming together and now we are all super excited to get started!!!
