The Team

By Hannah Powell | June 13th, 2014 | Categories: News, The Team

Franny is going to need a little bit of support whilst he completes this ultimate challenge in August. He has started to build a number of key people, all of whom are volunteers around him who are vital to Benali's Big Run.

The Team on the Road

Kenzie Benali

Kenzie is 19 and is currently studying Multimedia journalism at Southampton Solent University with the hopes of becoming a successful TV presenter. She has been lucky enough to participate in work experience at Sky Sports on numerous occasions which has only fuelled her passion further to pursue a career in this industry. She is still a keen supporter of SFC which naturally she has been since birth!!

Kenzie will be with her Dad for the entire challenge and claims to be his proudest supporter. Kenzie enjoys keeping fit by playing hockey and going to the gym. She is hoping to run the odd mile with her Dad as she knows she can always make him smile even during the toughest challenge of his life.

Luke Benali

Luke is 21 and graduated from Southampton University in July, having studied Economics for the last three years.

His main passion in life is exercise (and supporting Saints of course) and he keeps fit by playing football, tennis and cricket as well as going to the gym.  By the time the run starts he will have also undertaken his first Tough Mudder!

He has tutored all levels of maths from 8 to adult for the last two years and he plans to do this full time after the run.

He ran the Guernsey half marathon with his Dad and Angie and Matt LeTissier last year where they both raised money for the Dave Wellman Cancer Trust which his Dad is a Patron.  He now plans to run parts of the route with his Dad, hoping to run a half marathon on a daily basis throughout the run.  This in itself will be a very tough challenge but then he has a very good Role Model in his Dad of whom he is immensely proud.

Karen Benali

Karen was born and raised in Southampton.  She met Francis 26 years ago at The Pier in Southampton. She is Mum to Luke and Kenzie.  Karen mainly keeps fit by walking / jogging their beloved dog Ben most mornings, and tries to get to the gym 2 or 3 times a week.  The family have a very busy social life but amongst their favourite nights is 'family movie nights' where all 4 can catch up on the latest films.

She has been extra busy on the build up to the run with lots to organise with Fran, and most importantly making sure he eats much more than normal as he is burning off so many calories every day. She plans to accompany Fran on the majority of his run, albeit from the support vehicle!

She insists her proudest achievements is having the best hubby and children in the world.

The Team behind the scene's

Chris Wotton

PR director for PPS Group - a national property PR agency.  Chris has worked in PR and media for over 20 years. He met Franny when he was editor of the Saints Magazine and responsable pr and marketing for Southampton FC.

Chris has run 4 international marathons and over 20 smaller length runs. He will hope to run some of the 1000 miles with Franny to keep his good friend going in times of need.

Hannah Powell-Wright

Digital Marketing Manager for Jellyfish Livewire, a highly specialised marketing agency. Hannah has worked in marketing and digital for over 13 years and now specialises in all digital aspects for Livewire's clients. Having been a Southampton FC fan since she was a child, she has met with Franny on a number of occasions and jumped at the chance to be involved in such an ultimate challenge.

Hannah herself has completed a number of challenges including a Ghurkha half marathon carrying a bag of stones on her back across Salisbury Plain, various 18k runs but with a lot more mud and obstacles than Franny will be running over or through she hopes!

Hannah and Livewire are proud to be digitally powering Franny on his run.

Diane Platt

Diane is Regional Manager South, Volunteer Fundraising for Cancer Research UK.

Diane is our charity liaison and assisting us with all the charity aspects of this event, including helping to organise cheering posts to welcome Franny in to the Stadiums.

Sandy Davison

Sandy is Administration Manager for Wilding Butler Construction Limited, Winchester

Sandy also organises and plans all of Wilding Butlers charity and golfing events

Sandy used to be Frannys PA and is a great friend of the family. Sandy is on board to help with all administration.

Twelfth Man

And that's you guys. Please do all you can to support Franny in this epic challenge to raise £1,000,000 for Cancer Research UK.
