Why Cancer Research UK

By Hannah Powell | June 13th, 2014 | Categories: News, Charity,

Franny has chosen the brilliant Cancer Research UK which is close to his heart and he is aiming to raise £1,000,000

Help Franny to raise £1,000,00 by sponsoring him as he takes on Benali's Big Run. Donate now over on the Benali's Big Run JustGiving page.

"I have been a Patron of a local cancer charity for many years and within that role I have been privileged to have been invited on several occasions to the local Research Centre in Southampton, and witness first-hand the pioneering and amazing work they do within their Laboratories.

As a family we have been touched by this terrible disease, with my mum having to have a full hysterectomy after cancer cells were discovered, my wife lost both of her grandfathers to cancer as well as so many friends whose families have been affected. It felt natural to want to help and I wanted to do that personally.

Cancer can affect men, women and children of all ages, so the aim is to raise money to help CRUK continue their work to find cures and treatments to end all types of cancer….for ever!"

Diane Platt, Regional Fundraising Manager said “Our work is only possible through our amazing supporters, and Franny, his family and team are so determined to raise as much as possible to fund essential research and treatment of all types of cancer.”

“We can’t thank everyone on team Benalis Big Run enough for their hard work; they are an inspiration, after pulling together a team, sponsors and getting Franny training in just 4 weeks. Their dedication to make this challenge happen will help us to beat cancer sooner.”

Support like this is essential to our work at Cancer Research UK, our vision is to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. Our ambition is to accelerate progress and see three-quarters of people surviving the disease within the next 20 years and its individuals like Franny and the team behind him who will help in achieving this”
