BBC News studios are world famous. The brand is iconic. And BBC South studios use the same striking graphics for their newsroom backdrops. This device allows for the boards to be swapped out quickly and easily between programmes.
BBC South required an update to the news studios backdrop to reflect a subtle brand change and localisation. The brief was to print, mount and deliver backdrops for Brighton, Reading, Portsmouth and Southampton.
Livewire produced large format high quality graphics, then mounted and laminated the prints with light-defusing laminate. The boards were cut to specific sizes to fit the studio frame work, and when placed in situ and in order, created a full image.
News studios for the local BBC South region all used the new backdrops, which still feature today (2014) on daily broadcasts. This piece of work led to further studio graphics provided for regional programmes such as the Politics Show, and the Charles Dickens bi-centenary celebrations.
